If you’re looking for a stellar gift for your sweetie/s this Valentine’s Day, have I got a treat for you!
Before Christmas, my friend Katie profiled an artist named Liesi on her blog. Liesi makes one-of-a-kind needlepoint creations and had recently finished her first embroidered portrait. Isn’t it cute?!
I emailed Liesi then and there, asking whether she’d be interested / able to complete a commissioned portrait before the holidays. Her answer? YES!
I wanted a family portrait – not just my husband & I, but our two daughters and YES, the pets too. We agreed to a price (a very reasonable $10 per person / half price for animals) and I sent photos to her for reference. Within days she sent a “work in progress” for approval and three days before Christmas the finished portrait arrived!
If you’d like Liesi to make your Valentine’s Day truly special, let her know! Liesi (pronounced Lizzy) can be reached via her blog, Too Crewel, her etsy shop & toocrewel @ gmail.com.
Huge thanks to Liesi for her loving artistry & to Katie for sharing the love. 🙂
So creative! Even Kiwi seems like his personality comes through. Great idea for something different regardless of the occasion.
I think so too – I can almost hear her calling to me – LOL!
These are really neat!
Aren’t they? Love it!
how sweet, i just adore that, Good for you seeing talent and running after it
Thanks C! There’s nothing nicer than helping someone out – especially when it’s a win-win. I really hope Liesi gets some V-Day orders out of this post. She’s so talented & such a nice person.
How cute and creative. My daughters will love it. 🙂
It’s universal; my daughters love it too!
YES! This is so cute I might just have to commission some for the bloggy wedding 🙂
Oh God Bless You – YESSSSS!!!!!! Perfection!!!!!!
Adorable! What a great idea, including the title of your post. I love that you included all the animals in your family portrait. Supporting the arts is always a good thing. All this makes me smile!
Thanks so much, Linda!
It’s vital to support artists & craftspeople – and when you find someone with real talent, it’s important to spread the word. 🙂
Thanks so much for all of the kind words! It was a fun piece to do! 🙂
xo.
Liesi
You are welcome, my friend! Hoping you get some orders out of this post. Your work is so lovely – and so are you! xo
Thanks, lady! I got an email about one today 🙂
AWESOME!!! SO HAPPY!
Love it. A perfect Valentine gift for the whole family that everyone wll adore and treasure for many years to come. It brought a smile to my face . It’s so nice to look at each face…playful, happy, chid-like …just inspiring! Happy New Year my friend. Wishing you and your family love, joy and peace for always…
Happy New Year to you & yours too, IT! Perhaps you could commission Liesi to do a piece w/ you, your wife & son wearing your festive masks? LOL
OMG! Lovelovelovelovelovelovelove! I can’t believe how much everyone looks like themselves! Especially Roxy! And you! The animals are sooooooo cute. And I’m not usually the type of person who goes for animals-as-family things (like those stickers people put in the back windows of their cars with a head for mom, dad, baby, and eighteen dogs). Man. I want this. Maybe with Kamran and me instead of your family. But with your animals.
Thanks Katie! And I swear…I’ll be sending out your embroidery this week. Promise!!
You made me laaaaaugh. (PS: Kiwi sends her love. and a little poo for good measure.)
That’s VERY cool, Dishy!
To tell you the truth, I couldn’t figure out which end of a needle to fail at threading!
🙂
You’re so bad Inky..
Wow that is awesome. Liesi sure did a fantastic job of it. She is definitely a very talented person
Thanks Tony! I think so too! 🙂
How could we–and the artists we love–live without Etsy?
Oh I know, D – life would be so much plainer w/out etsy fixes!
PS: Liesi is running a $30 special just for Valentine’s Day! Contact her directly to place an order: toocrewel @ gmail.com
Well done , I like it .
Hi everyone, Liesi here!
I just wanted to mention that there is a price change from last year’s Valentines. I now have a set cost of $30.00 per person (half price for animals still). However! Since I am still getting many inquiries off of this post this year I will offer a special of $50 (vs the usual $60) for a couple. Just let me know you came from the wonderful Daily Dish!
ps. Christy- you’re the best. still!
