I just read an article in the New York Times about NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, the project in which thousands attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in just 30 days. It starts tomorrow (November 1st) and runs through the end of the month. I’d never considered participating before but 1,667 words per day x 30 days = HOT BAM! you’ve made a BOOK.
8 years ago today my sister got married!
I was at the beach the other day. It was cloudy and I didn’t really feel like swimming, so I sat and listened to the conversations of my neighbors. Because I’m nosy like that.
Every so often I remember that I have a BLOG! And suddenly I’m dropping everything to get back in touch with my writerly side. I used to do this all the time- get in touch with myself – but as I’ve gotten older I seem to be touching myself less.
Happy New Year! Happy NEW YEAR!!!!~**!!!**~!!! !!! I would bang pots and pans, but I’m too busy TYPING. SO. 2018!! You’re here! The year I’ve been dreaming of the past 18 years has finally arrived and I’m both giddy and nostalgic. 18 years since I made my first human. 18 years and I’ll soon be the owner of an adult!
You know how it feels when you’re falling in love? At first, it’s all hot and heavy and you can hardly think of anything but being with the other person. You live them, breathe them, you almost want to EAT them! But things eventually steady. The boil, though still burning, simmers down and you start to see stuff you hadn’t seen before. And often it’s these subtleties that’ll either END IT or enchant you all the more.
