My husband was outside yesterday when I heard him shout,Baby, come quick! There’s a moth out here that looks just like a hummingbird!!”  I grabbed my camera and ran to join him.  Sure enough, at the side of our driveway, hovering above our butterfly bush, was a moth w/wings so fast they could barely be seen.

C is for …

Last night at dinner, while other families were conversing about art and politics, my family and I were discussing our favorite letters. And like many other Sesame Street topics of conversation, it was polarizing. My daughters and I all (of course) chose the first letters of our names as our favorites. Mine being C. But just because C is for Christy doesn’t mean I’m biased solely because of THAT.

Chicken Feed

The chickens have been w/ us 7 weeks, and although confident in my ability to care for them, I’m still feeling like a teacher with a new class.  I can identify two of the chickens (the larger and smaller black ones) but the other 4 red ones, forget it.  I speak to them sweetly and try to be impartial.  Ooooh aren’t you cute, mumblemumblemumble.. and YOU, soandso….

You’ve seen their house.  Inside its confines they have an endless supply of food and we’ve taken to dishing out additional treats.  Our chickens like table scraps.
